Swans are in need of reinforcements

Swansea City’s Premier League fate is in the balance.

The Swans are rock bottom of the Premier League and have picked up just four wins from 22 games so far this season.

Their top-flight status could depend on which players Carlos Carvalhal brings to the Liberty Stadium this month.

With reinforcements required, the Coral News Team look at three potential targets for the South Club.

Diafra Sakho

West Ham United striker Diafra Sakho has been strongly linked with a move to the Liberty. The Senegal international has been out of favour at the London Stadium for some time.

He has yet to start a game for the Hammers in the Premier League this season. However, his goalscoring statistics are still good. The 28-year-old has bagged six goals in all competitions so far this season.

In total the 6ft 1in ace has netted 24 goals in 71 games for the East Londoners. That’s a solid return for a player who has not always been a starter – especially this season.

With the Swans desperate for goals and experience up-front, a hungry Sakho could be a key arrival if the South Wales club are to avoid relegation.

Daniel Opare

Augsburg’s Daniel Opare is rumoured to be available for £3m. He can play at left-back or right-back and likes to go forward with the ball. For a Swans side that are the league’s lowest scorers, his attacking impetus could be timely.

The Ghanaian international is a wanted man, though. Stoke City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City are also in the market for him. And with good reason too.

Opare has the ability to drive a team forward with his mazy runs and direct dribbling. Swansea lack a player who can make something happen and spark an attack. If Carvalhal can sign the 27-year-old, they could be in business.

Danny Ings

Danny Ings would be a perfect signing for Swansea. The Liverpool striker requires game time and is unlikely to get opportunities at Anfield any time soon. A move to City would provide him with the chance to rediscover his scoring touch. In return, Carvalhal would get a top-quality striker eager to prove his worth.

His record for Burnley in his last injury-free season speaks for itself. Ings hit 11 goals in 37 games as the Irons finish 19th back in the 2014-15 season.

That sort of cutting edge is what the Swans are missing. If club and player link up before the end of January, both could find themselves in a much better position come May.
