West Ham, Everton and Crystal Palace among 3 best options for Daniel Sturridge
Striker needs to make a move
Daniel Sturridge’s Liverpool career appears to be nearing an end.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has handed the Englishman just 431 minutes of Premier League football this season.
That boils down to an average of just 26 minutes per match.
And things have become worse in recent weeks. Sturridge has featured in just one of the Liverpool’s last six Premier League games.
Unless things change, the former Chelsea man has no chance of making England’s World Cup squad next summer.
And at 28-years-old, this could be his last chance at playing in the Finals.
The Coral News Team reckon Sturridge needs to end his Anfield exile. Here are his options:
Everton – 6/4
Could Sturridge do what no player has done for 15 years and move directly across Stanley Park?
There are certainly good reasons why he could swap Red for Blue.
Everton need pace and quality up front. Sturridge would quickly become the main man at Goodison Park.
Plus, he would have an abundant supply of talent behind him in Wayne Rooney and Gylfi Sigurdsson.
West Ham United – 7/4
The Hammers are a little light up front. They have a physical presence in Andy Carroll and Michail Antonio, plus a fox in the box in Javier Hernandez.
But they lack a player possessing Sturridge’s guile and movement.
New boss David Moyes is expected to be backed in the January window, while a loan-deal could also be agreed in the short-term.
Crystal Palace – 6/1
Over in South London, Crystal Palace could also appeal.
The Eagles’ main striker is Christian Benteke, and like West Ham, they lack agility and movement up top.
But in Roy Hodgson Sturridge will have a manager he is plenty familiar with from their time together with England.
Palace boast plenty of quality in midfield too. Yohan Cabaye and Wilfried Zaha will both ensure Sturridge isn’t short of chances.
Valencia – 5/1
How about a move abroad? Valencia are flying under Marcelino Garcia Toral.
After a dismal season last term, the Mestalla outfit have no European distractions, so it’s full steam ahead in La Liga.
There are safer options for Sturridge to make, but equally, succeeding in Spain would see his stock rise far higher than any English alternative.
His style of football should suit the domestic continental scene, so there’s no reason the forward couldn’t make it work out in Spain.
