Pulis, Van Gaal, Koeman and Giggs among early contenders for Swansea job

Welsh club have sacked Paul Clement

Swansea City love a Christmas sacking. For the third year in a row the Welsh club have parted ways with their manager in the month of December.

It was Garry Monk in 2015, then it was Bob Bradley 12 months ago, and this year it was Paul Clement’s turn.

Whatever the reasons for the move, it means the side currently bottom of the Premier League are on the lookout for a new manager.

Here are Coral’s frontrunners for the gig…

Tony Pulis – 11/10

Tony Pulis has the one thing Swansea are seeking – the man knows how to avoid relegation.

He’s famously never been down, but his tenures at both West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace weren’t particularly effective.

That said, the Swans have one aim and one aim alone – survival.

Louis van Gaal – 4/1

The Dutchman has been in charge of some of the biggest club’s in the game, so it would be a bit of a surprise if he turned up in the Swansea home dugout.

Plus, Van Gaal said he was retired in the summer.

However, the former Manchester United man did sound his interest in a Premier League return only last week. So watch this space.

Ronald Koeman – 6/1

In time it will probably be seen that Ronald Koeman was treated somewhat harshly at Everton.

Like compatriot Van Gaal, the Dutchman’s CV and experience are first class.

Slaven Bilic – 6/1

Like Koeman, Slaven Bilic is another manager recently forced to dust off his CV.

There’s no knocking a managerial win ratio of more than 48%, and Bilic arguably did well in the rollercoaster ride which is West Ham United.

Ryan Giggs – 10/1

Could this be Ryan Giggs’ shot? The Man United legend has been linked with every Prem job going over the last 18 months.

But despite his playing experience, it would be a huge risk from Swansea to plump for a man who has managed just four first-team matches.
