It’s all about home winners this evening

The New Year is rapidly approaching, but before the main action kicks off on Saturday, Friday night serves up a handy dose of early-weekend football.

Tonight’s Coral Acca focuses on the two games in the Championship and the pair of fixtures in League One, plus a quick trip to Scotland.

If all five carefully chosen selections come in, a £5 wager on this evening’s accumulator could pay out £216.05. All prices and returns correct at time of publishing.

Cardiff to beat Preston

Cardiff City’s unbeaten home record came crashing to an end in a 4-2 defeat to Fulham last time out.

But on the whole the Bluebirds have been excellent this term so they should bounce back at home to Preston North End.

The Lancashire outfit are actually unbeaten in their last four away games, but Cardiff boss Neil Warnock won’t stand for a third defeat on the spin. A home win looks good at 11/10.

Millwall to beat QPR

The second part of tonight’s Championship double header is an intriguing London match-up.

Both Millwall and Queen’s Park Rangers can beat anyone on their day, but a Lions’ win is the pick.

The Den outfit have been beaten just once on home soil this term, and with Ian Holloway’s Rangers collecting just one away success, the second part of the Coral acca is a Millwall victory at 11/10.

Doncaster to beat Rochdale

A timely festive run has seen Doncaster Rovers rise from a relegation scrap into the comforts of mid-table security.

In the process, they’ve left Rochdale far behind ahead of this clash.

Dale are winless in their last four, slipping to second-bottom. Their main problem is their travelling form as they’re yet to be victorious on the road.

Hosts Donny have only lost three times at the Keepmoat too, so another home win continues the punt at 23/20.

Wigan to beat Charlton

Wigan Athletic’s winning run came to a halt at home to fellow promotion hopefuls Shrewsbury Town on Boxing Day.

But the Latics should collect three more points when out-of-sorts Charlton Athletic visit.

The visitors have seen their play-off hopes hit by a dismal run of form. The Addicks are winless in seven.

Wigan are eager to keep Shrewsbury and a flying Blackburn Rovers at bay, so the home wins keep rolling at a steady 4/7.

St Mirren to beat Dundee Utd

The final leg of tonight’s acca should be a cracker as the Ladbrokes Championship’s top-two meet.

Both St Mirren and Dundee United have won four of their last five.

The two previous meetings this term have been won by the respective home sides.

This will be close, but there isn’t quite enough confidence in United’s away form to go against a fifth and final home victory at 19/10.
