Bet of the Day: Keegan Brown to make James Wade sweat
The Machine might be faulty
James Wade opens up his World Darts Championship quest tonight with a First Round match against Keegan Brown.
The world number 11 has established himself as one of the top players in the world over the last decade. But he has continually dropped down the Order of Merit over the last few seasons.
Keegan Brown missed last year’s tournament but is back in the limelight once again this season.
The 2014 PDC Young Player of the Year hasn’t been pulling up any trees in 2017 but has had a reasonably solid season.
The 25-year-old has played Wade on six occasions during his career and beaten him three times. That includes twice this year alone.
Brown to keep it close
As previously mentioned, James Wade tends to navigate the opening round of the World Darts Championship rather well.
However, historically, he rarely wins in straights sets. Wade has dropped sets in every tournament bar three since 2007.
Brown has beaten Wade twice this season 6-5 on both occasions. Again, it’s a big ask, but Wade to win 3-2 on Correct Score at 4/1 looks a nice bet.
A possible nine-dart finish?
Wade hit three nine-dart finishes on the 2006 PDC circuit. He was also on the receiving end of Phil Taylor’s monumental double nine-darter during the 2010 Premier League final.
The Aldershot left-hander has thrown live televised nine-dart finishes at the 2008 Grand Slam of Darts and in the 2014 World Grand Prix.
Could we see another at the oche here at the Alexandra Palace? It’s 50/1 Wade nails one.
