Bet of the Day: Back Van Gerwen to waltz past Wilson

Champ should have no problem making round three

It’s round two of the PDC World Darts Championship and Friday night’s highlight is the second appearance of the reigning champion, Michael van Gerwen.

MVG takes on James Wilson, and nobody is really expecting anything other than a straight-forward win for Mighty Mike.

There’s no value in the match betting with the Dutchman priced at 1/33.

But there is plenty to enjoy elsewhere. Wilson has got nowhere near MVG in four previous meetings, and after a 106-average in round one, Van Gerwen is on song.

So Coral’s Bet of the Day is Michael van Gerwen to beat James Wilson 4-0 at 5/6.

Mighty Mike to start fast

It’s the first to four sets in round two, allowing MVG to really get into his groove.

He’s likely to do that right from the off, as he so often does in a bid to gain the upper hand and mentally hurt his opponent.

The reigning champion is an appealing 6/4 to hit a 180 in the first leg of the match. Coral are 4/5 on either player to throw a 180 in the opening leg.

180 after 180 after 180

This isn’t all about the Dutchman though. Wilson will have a part to play in this too.

The 45-year-old from Huddersfield threw more 180s than his superstar opponent in round one.

So the Evens available with Coral on over 12.5 180s looks to be the one to be on.
