3 reasons why Raheem Sterling should turn down Real Madrid move
Published:
City winger has been a revelation this season
Real Madrid are reportedly monitoring Raheem Sterling’s situation at Manchester City.
The England international is rumoured to be waiting until after the World Cup to make a decision on his future.
Zinedine Zidane is in the market for replacements with an ageing squad currently creaking at Santiago Bernabeu.
There’s no doubt Sterling has the talent and capacity to play for the Spanish giants. But would it be a wise move at this stage of his career?
The Coral News Team doesn’t think so and have outlined why below.
Pep talks are the best talks
Sterling’s progress under Pep Guardiola had been initially slow. However, his performances this season have been a revelation.
The former Liverpool forward has already hit his best ever goal return in a season (13) – before Christmas.
The penny seems to have dropped in terms of how Guardiola wants him to play and use space to his advantage.
Guardiola widely-regarded as the best coach in the world. Sterling is still only 22-years-old. Why move anywhere else right now?
Doubts over Zizou
On the flipside to Guardiola, there are marked doubts as to the true coaching ability of Zidane.
That may seem harsh on a fledgling career of a manager who has won as many trophies as the Real legend. However, pockets of fans and media in Madrid are not convinced.
The style with which Real currently play has been questioned and iffy results this term have underpinned those complaints.
A situation where Sterling ended up in Madrid having signed for Zizou – then saw the manager relieved of his duties would not be ideal.
End of an era at Real?
At nearly 33-years-old, is Cristiano Ronaldo finally winding down a little? No player – not even a machine like Cristiano – can go on forever.
And it’s arguable that his career span is intertwined with that of Real’s recent golden era. Key players like Sergio Ramos and Luka Modric are also now in their thirties.
While the Coral News Team is far from writing off Los Galacticos, a transitional period could well be on the horizon at the Bernabeu.
Is Raheem Sterling ready to take on the mantle of being a star player for one of the biggest clubs in the world right now? It’s possibly too much pressure.
