The midfielder is out of favour at Old Trafford

Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is in line for a recall in the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Bristol City on Wednesday night.

But that’s unlikely to stop talk of him leaving United in the January transfer window. The Armenia international hasn’t even made the bench in eight of United’s last nine games.

Jose Mourinho has accused him of “disappearing” during games and the pair have reportedly had a disagreement at the training ground recently.

Mkhitaryan played a key role in United’s Europa League triumph last season. But it looks like his time at the club could be coming to an end soon.

The Coral News Team have looked at three potential destinations for him:

Inter Milan

Inter have been heavily linked with a move for Mkhitaryan, with Joao Mario potentially involved in a swap deal.

Luciano Spaletti’s side are only two points off the top of Serie A. Mkhitaryan’s dribbling and passing ability could help them to close the gap on Napoli.

Their attacking style may also be a better fit for the 28-year-old than United’s relatively conservative approach in big games.

Borussia Dortmund

Dortmund have brought the likes of Mario Gotze, Shinji Kagawa and Nuri Sahin back to the Westfalenstadion in recent years. Mkhitaryan could follow them.

His superb form in the Bundesliga earned him his move to United in the first place. Going back to Dortmund might be just what he needs to hit top form again.

Dortmund have had a disappointing season so far. They’re already 13 points behind Bayern Munich and finished third in their Champions League group. Resigning Mkhitaryan could be the spark they need going into the second half of the campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur

If Tottenham can persuade United to sell to a top-four rival, Mkhitaryan would be a great fit for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

His energy and speed would be well suited to Spurs’ pressing game. But he could also add another dimension to their attacking play.

Spurs can struggle to break down stubborn defences sometimes as, other than Son Heung-Min, they lack pace in the final third. Mkhitaryan would help to solve that. His ability to beat a man could create space for Dele Alli and Harry Kane.
