The former Burnley striker is in demand

The January transfer window is usually a time for quick-fixes rather than signing players for the long-term.

Many clubs will be on the lookout for extra firepower in attack, so it’s no surprise that Liverpool’s Danny Ings is attracting plenty of attention.

He’s suffered an injury nightmare since moving to Liverpool in 2015. He’s now fit again, but with Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and Dominic Solanke ahead of him in the pecking order, a temporary move could be what he needs.

The Coral News Team have taken a look at three potential destinations for the former Burnley man…

West Ham United

West Ham boss David Moyes has a long-term interest in Ings, having tried to sign him while he was at Real Sociedad.

His current club are 19th, one point above bottom, and in desperate need of an injection of energy. Ings is prepared to press and harry the opposition, but he would also add quality in the final third.

The 25-year-old’s running would give Manuel Lanzini a target for his through balls. He’d also provide much-needed support to Javier Hernandez in the final third. The Mexican hasn’t clicked with Andy Carroll and Marko Arnautovic has been disappointing since his club-record move.

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace are the joint-lowest scorers in the division. They’ve only scored eight goals so far. And their main striker Christian Benteke has looked off the pace since returning from injury.

Benteke requires service from crosses, but Palace have looked most effective when they’ve used Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend to break with pace. Ings would be a better fit for that style.

Roy Hodgson is already a fan of the Winchester-born forward. The Palace boss gave Ings his England debut in 2015. He could call on him again to try to avoid the drop.

Newcastle United

As you’d expect from a Rafa Benitez side, Newcastle are well-organised and disciplined. But there’s a real lack of quality in the squad.

No Newcastle player has scored more than two goals in the top flight this season. The Magpies are five points above the drop zone, but they’ve not won any of their last six league games. They could be dragged into a relegation battle if they don’t find a cutting edge.

With a potential takeover looming at St. James’ Park, Benitez may not have the funds needed to sign a striker permanently. Signing Ings on loan would be an ideal solution.
