Harry Fry’s mount is fancied

Saturday’s racing action features six high-quality contests from Newbury and Newcastle.

Of the half-a-dozen on the card, there are two that stand out about the rest.

Buveur D’Air is heavily fancied to land the Grade 1 Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle.

Then 21 runners will go to post in the highly coveted Ladbrokes Trophy from Newbury at 15:00.

The Coral News Team are on hand to guide you through both races as well as the other four fixtures on the card.

Bet of the Day

The highlight of the day is the Ladbrokes Trophy. As such, it gets Bet of the Day status. In what should be an intriguing contest, it’s American that gets the nod.

Harry Fry’s mount is unbeaten so far over fences and will have a 10lb advantage over the jolly. He was very impressive last time out at Uttoxeter and has the ability to claim a first black-type win on his seasonal reappearance.

It won’t be easy in a big field, but he has the quality to shine through and is the Coral Bet of the Day.

Jabulani can score in the opener

Nigel Twiston-Davies is a trainer in form. And that makes his horse Jabulani a game fancy in the first ITV race of the afternoon.

He showed his potential when landing a Class 3 contest at Lingfield last time out and will be asked to step up in class for this one. That form, coupled with the distance and perfect ground marks him out as one of main fancies.

By contrast, competitor Air Horse One is dropped down in class after finishing fourth in a Listed race at Ascot last time out.

It’ll be a tough ask for Jubilani. But the Coral News Team think that Fry’s progressive mount can spring a minor shock in the first race of the day.

Amour Du Nuit

Amour Du Nuit looks a good price to continue his impressive form over hurdles. Paul Nicholls’s mount has been impressive over the summer and stayed on well to win a Class 1 contest at Kempton last time out.

This should be the optimum trip for the five-year-old, although the ground will be a concern. However, it’s worth taking a risk on the Irish-bred raider, even on each-way terms.

ITV Racing Tips:

1:50 Newbury – Jabulani (5/1)

2:10 Newcastle – Buveur D’Air

2:25 Newbury – Amour Du Nuit (8/1)

3:00 Newbury – American

3:20 Newcastle – Wakanda

3:35 Newcastle – Theinval
