Big games at both ends of the table

It’s another big night of Premier League action as the midweek fixtures are completed this evening.

Three of the top-six are in action along with a big basement battle at the foot of the table.

The Coral News Team take a look at some of the key storylines ahead of the games.

Can Man City make it 12-in-a-row?

Manchester City edged ever closer to a Premier League record with a late win against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

It sometimes feels like Pep Guardiola’s side might never lose again. But they will. Every ‘unbeatable’ team always does at some stage.

For now, though, the question is: Can Southampton stop them from making it 12 Premier League wins in-a-row?

The answer will likely be no. City should be too strong for a Saints side who’ve been awful on the road.

Relegation six-pointer

It may have seemed unlikely at the start of the season but Everton and West Ham United are currently in a relegation battle.

The two sides clash at Goodison Park and both will be desperate for three points. David Unsworth has failed to get anything out of this Everton squad and that culminated in another humiliating defeat at Southampton.

However, David Moyes has fared a little better since taking the Hammers’ post. A 1-1 draw against Leicester City was reasonably decent.

The East London outfit must fancy their chances here as Moyes goes back to his old ground.

Can Arsenal leapfrog Chelsea?

Despite the usual protestations and fan unrest, Arsenal have been quietly going about their business in impressive fashion this season.

The Gunners sit just a point behind Chelsea in fourth and can jump ahead if they win against Huddersfield and the Blues fail to beat Swansea at home.

Arsene Wenger seems to have struck upon a decent balance lately with Mesut Ozil’s return to form coming at a nice time.

Things are less rosy at Stamford Bridge with the Chelsea board struggling to keep Antonio Conte happy. Choppy waters could be ahead.

Liverpool and Burnley in top-six battle

Liverpool’s current defensive frailties mean they are unlikely to progress much further than battling for a top-six place.

And now they have an impressive Burnley side snapping at their heels. Jurgen Klopp will be hoping his side can avoid any slip-ups at Stoke City.

Burnley travel to Bournemouth at the same time and considering their away record, will be very confident of maximum points.

The last thing Klopp will need now is Sean Dyche’s Clarets skipping over them in the table.
