Scudamore says: “Vieux Lion Rouge has a decent each-way chance at Wetherby”
Top jockey runs through his weekend rides
He got up to a decent level over hurdles last year.
Unfortunately he was a bit disappointed on his first chase so he has to bounce back from that. David Pipe’s horses are running well at the moment.
The softer the better for him so he would like plenty of rain overnight.
This will be the horse’s first run over obstacles. He was rated as high as 85 on the flat.
I am told he has taken well to hurdles at home which is promising news.
David O’Meara has obviously had a lot of success on the flat and I am sure he will have this horse in great condition.
He should be in the make up at the finish if he converts his flat rating to hurdles.
1.30 Wetherby – Eamon An Cnoic
He won twice over hurdles last year and showed a good level of form.
There are only four runners in this but it is a good little race.
We are hoping the switch to fences will see a further improvement from him.
Her form has dropped off a little bit recently therefore she has a few pounds to find with some of these in the race.
She is capable though so we are hopeful of a good run.
The conditions will be in her favour so she won’t be without a chance.
3.15 Wetherby – Vieux Lion Rouge
At the ratings he has a bit to find with these. We are hoping he can improve seven or eight pounds this year which would put him right in the mix.
David is very happy with him and he looks in great order. At the prices, he will have a decent each-way chance. We are fully aware of what we are up against though.
I was lucky enough to school Cue Card a few weeks ago where I was a little star struck as he has been such a brilliant horse at the top level for so long now.
He felt really good and was clearly enthusiastic. It is great for racing tomorrow that we have two stars out in action in Coneygree and Cue Card.
Sunday
1.45 Huntingdon – Burning Heat
He is rated 120 and has shown a good level over hurdles but he does need to bounce back after a couple of disappointing runs.
3.20 Huntingdon – Mister Drifter
He is having his first run in a handicap for us. He is steadily improving with every run. We will know more about him on Sunday.
Whatever he does over hurdles though will be a bonus and he is going to be a nice chaser for us in the future.
