Joe Tizzard: “Theatre Guide is definitely the best horse in the race.”
Trainer talks through his chances at Wincanton and Sandown
Battle Of Ideas ran really well when finishing third at Exeter earlier this week. We were delighted as we saw a lot more from him that we have been expecting.
The winner was a really nice horse. He has taken a big step forward as he jumped well and looked very professional. We’ll find another nice novice hurdle for him.
Harry is really confident he will win one of these races. In time he will need a step up in trip. We’ll give him a few weeks off now and go from there.
Cue Card has come out of the race from Wetherby. He is going to go to Wincanton tomorrow along with Thistlecrack and Fox Norton.
He will have a nice day out and realise he is not going to have a fall there.
We are not working them at the track, we are just giving them a canter.
It sharpens them up really nicely. Fox Norton is going at Cheltenham next week and Thistlecrack will run in early December.
The Brothers is a lovely big horse and he is learning all the time. He may need the experience here though.
Kilbricken Storm’s form at Exeter behind Onefortheroadtom looks very good.
He will probably start as favourite but he will take the world of beating.
This mare loves the track as she won here last time. She is going up in trip but that should not be a problem.
She is improving all the time and she is going to need to as this is a step up in class but hopefully she can run a big race.
This race has really cut up as there is only three in there now. It is sponsored by John Romans who owns Valhalla and it tends to only have three or four runners in it each year.
On official ratings he has a lot to do. He jumps well and anything can happen in a race like this.
Gentleman John got balloted out so we only have two in the race now.
Theatre Guide is definitely the best horse in the race but he has been given a lump of a weight here.
He has some solid form to his name as he was second in the Hennessy and third in a decent handicap at Cheltenham.
He has had a wind op this summer which will help him. He has never run at Wincanton before but I think it is a track which will suit him.
Tempestatefloresco has been on the go throughout the summer so it makes sense to go here with him. He’ll have a break after this until spring.
He ran really well on his debut when finishing second at Chepstow behind one of Paul Nicholls’.
He has been going well at home and we think a lot of him. As long as Wincanton suits him, he should go close. I am hoping there is a nice gallop as that will work in his favour.
What we don’t want is a sprint finish. Whatever happens, he has a big future.
3.30 Sandown – Third Intentions
He has been dropped five pounds for his run in the Old Roan Chase at Aintree. He is more than capable of winning off this mark.
It is great he has a chance in a veterans’ race now. He has run well around Sandown before so we are looking forward to this.
