Bet of the Day: Middlesbrough to bounce back v Birmingham
Published:
The Champions League continues this evening, but so does the Championship action.
Middlesbrough and Birmingham were Premier League foes a decade or so ago, but now the two sides host very different ambitions in the second tier.
Garry Monk’s Teessiders are seeking a quick return to the drop, while the Blues are looking to avoid slipping into the third tier for the first time in 25 years.
But City are winless on the road – losing seven of their eight games this term.
And with Boro keen to avenge their loss to Leeds United at the weekend, Coral’s Bet of the Day is Middlesbrough to win at 4/6.
Blues’ away woe to continue
Birmingham own the worst away record in the Championship. From eight matches they’ve collected just one draw while losing seven times.
Only Burton have scored fewer than their three goals on their travels, while Nottingham Forest are the only side to have a worse defence on the road.
So this should be a comfortable night for Monk and co. Boro have kept clean sheets in 50% of their homes this term. Both Teams to Score – No is 3/4, while a Middlesbrough win and under 2.5 goals is 9/5.
Back Britt to produce
Boro spent big to sign Britt Assombalonga in the summer, and the 24-year-old is proving his worth in the North East.
The 24-year-old has scored nine times this season and is by far and away the Reds’ top scorer.
With four goals in his last six appearances, the striker is improving as he settles into his new digs.
