Bet of the Day: Fleetwood to beat Chorley in FA Cup tie

No upset expected at Victory Park

The last tie of the FA Cup first round sees Fleetwood Town travel to Chorley on Monday evening.

League One side Fleetwood are three tiers above their hosts in the football pyramid. But they can’t afford to be complacent in a one-off cup tie.

The Cod Army have only won one of their last five matches in all competitions. Chorley come into this one on the back of three wins in their last five outings.

The Coral Bet of the Day is Fleetwood to win with a -1.0 handicap at 9/5.

Chorley to fire a blank?

The home side reached this stage of the competition after beating Boston United 4-3 in the fourth qualifying round replay. But their hat-trick hero Nick Haughton won’t be available here as he’s on loan from Fleetwood.

Chorley are sixth in the National League North. But they’ve only scored 18 goals in 16 games. Only two sides in the division have scored fewer goals this season.

Without Haughton, they could struggle to break down Fleetwood. Fleetwood to Win to Nil is 15/8.

Fleetwood on fire?

At the other end of the pitch, Chorley will also be without number one goalkeeper Matty Urwin. Like Haughton, Urwin is on loan from Fleetwood and can’t play against his parent club.

The Magpies have brought in Cardiff City’s Oliver Byrne on loan to fill in. However, Byrne is only 19 and has yet to make his senior debut.

Only two teams have scored more goals in League One than Fleetwood (27) this term.

As Chorley will be weakened at both ends, Fleetwood could run out convincing winners.

Fleetwood/Fleetwood in the Half Time / Full Time market is 17/10.
