4 potential destinations for Atletico’s Antoine Griezmann

Man Utd, PSG and La Liga giants in the frame
Antoine Griezmann has been integral to Atletico Madrid’s success. He’s scored at least 25 goals in each of this three years at the club so far. But he’s struggled to hit those heights so far during the current campaign.
The France international has only scored three goals in 14 appearances. And he was booed off by the Atletico fans in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Real Madrid.
Griezmann came close to joining Manchester United last summer. However he decided to stay at Atletico after they were hit with a transfer ban.
He’s still being linked with a big move at the end of the season. Bayern Munich have played down their interest in the forward. There won’t be a shortage of other suitors though.
The Coral News Team have taken a look at four potential destinations for Griezmann…
Manchester United
United turned to Romelu Lukaku after failing to sign Griezmann. Lukaku has made an impressive start to life at Old Trafford. That doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t go back in for Griezmann though.
The 26-year-old scores and creates goals. He can play right across the front line which means he could play with Lukaku or as an alternative to him.
Griezmann’s friendship with Paul Pogba could work in United’s favour here. His experience of playing for Diego Simeone means he’s ready for the work rate that Jose Mourinho demands too.
Barcelona
Barcelona have been in sensational form this season. Much of that is down to Lionel Messi, who’s continued to excel despite Neymar’s departure and Luis Suarez’s recent goal drought.
Even Messi can’t do it all on his own though. Improving the supporting cast would make Barcelona an even better side.
Ousmane Dembele could turn into a great signing for Barca. But adding Griezmann would ease the pressure on his young shoulders and help them prepare for the post-Messi era.
Paris Saint-Germain
Griezmann left France as a teenager to join Real Sociedad’s academy. It would be understandable if he was tempted by the chance to return home. Just last week he admitted that playing with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe at PSG would be a dream.
PSG’s world-record purchase of Neymar shows that they’re prepared to do whatever it takes to bring in elite players.
Adding Griezmann to their already-impressive attack could help them to win the Champions League title they crave.
Real Madrid
Real Madrid broke their informal pact with Atletico not to sign players from each other when they brought in Theo Hernandez this summer.
With that in mind, the European champions wouldn’t hesitate if they had a chance to get Griezmann. It would be very controversial. But the potential upside is huge.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema have both struggled in front of goal this season. And Gareth Bale has barely been able to get onto the pitch. Griezmann could play any role in the front three. He has the talent and profile to become the Bernabeu’s next superstar.
