Super Sunday preview: Draw on the South Coast and Leicester joy
All the info ahead of Sunday’s action
Sunday brings two tasty Premier League games to enjoy. Brighton & Hove Albion host Southampton in a South-Coast clash first. Then Claude Puel will take charge of Leicester City for the first time against Everton.
The Coral News Team have cast their eye over the stats to bring you all of the key information before kick-off.
Brighton v Southampton
Brighton have only lost one of their last four league games and could climb into the top-half if they beat Southampton.
The Saints are 10th, a point above Brighton. They’ve yet to properly click under Mauricio Pellegrino but have been relatively solid.
Coral have Brighton at 11/5 and Southampton at 7/5. But 2/1 for a draw looks a very good price.
Both sides have lacked a cutting edge in front of goal this term. Brighton are also unbeaten at home in league action, while Saints’ only away win came against bottom-of-the-table Crystal Palace.
Brighton’s Tomer Hemed is available for selection again. But it would be a surprise if Chris Hughton made any changes to the team that beat West Ham United last week. That means Pascal Gross is likely to support Glenn Murray in attack.
Gross has looked very comfortable in the top flight so far. He’s produced four assists this season – only three players in the division have more. Gross is 2/1 to make 1+ assists.
For Southampton, Sofiane Boufal could have played his way into the starting XI with his superb winner against West Bromwich Albion last weekend. The Morocco international has only started one league game so far this season. He’s 3/1 to score Anytime.
Leicester v Everton
Former Southampton boss Claude Puel wasn’t the most exciting choice to replace Craig Shakespeare at Leicester. But he’ll fancy his chances of starting his tenure at the King Power Stadium with a win over Everton at 11/10.
Everton haven’t won an away game in league action since January. They’re 12/5 outsiders here. The draw is also priced at 12/5.
The Toffees have been going through some upheaval themselves. Ronald Koeman was dismissed on Monday with the club in 18th place. Under-23 boss David Unsworth is in charge on a temporary basis.
Unsworth oversaw a much better display in the Carabao Cup loss to Chelsea in midweek. But the lack of pace available to him makes it hard to see them getting anything from this one.
There could be plenty of goals though. Since Leicester returned to the Premier League, all seven matches between the two sides have produced at least two goals. Leicester and Over 2.5 Goals is 12/5.
Jamie Vardy could be due a goal. He’s not scored in his last three league appearances for the Foxes. The England international is 11/8 to score Anytime.
