Scouts sent to watch Valencia ace

Reports this morning suggest Manchester United will make a January move for Valencia midfield star, Carlos Soler.

The Spain Under-21 international has been earning rave reviews since breaking into the side last season. And he starred once again for Los Che in their 4-0 weekend win over Sevilla.

The 20-year-old is currently valued at around £30m by the La Liga club. United are believed to be readying a bid when the transfer window reopens in the new year.

The Coral News Team look at three reasons why Soler would be the perfect fit at Old Trafford.

Youth on his side

In attack, Jose Mourinho’s squad is young and vibrant. With Romelu Lukau, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial all the right side of 25-years-old, age is not an issue.

However, in midfield, United have a problem. Of their central midfielders, Paul Pogba is the youngest at 24-years-old.

Ander Herrera is next at 28-years-old, while Michael Carrick is the eldest at 36-years-old.

Soler would bring a much-needed youthful vibrancy to the central area.

Players out of contract

In the next two windows, you could see plenty of movement in and out of Old Trafford. Herrera, Marouane Fellaini, and Carrick are all out of contract in the summer.

There are no guarantees any of them will be offered, or sign a new contract.

Herrera has fallen in and out of favour under Mourinho. Fellaini has been more of an impact sub. Carrick is coming to the end of a storied career.

A move for a midfielder – and a young one at that – is a prerequisite.

A quarterback option

Much like Koke at Atletico Madrid, Soler’s ability to play across the midfield would bring added versatility to a central area that lacks a playmaker.

The Valencia ace started his career as a striker but was eventually dropped into a deeper midfield role.

He has now made a name for himself pulling the strings in the Los Che midfield.

Played alongside Matic, Soler could be the conductor who will allow Pogba to play a little higher up the field.
