Lagostovegas could be the star of the show at Cesarewitch

Willie Mullins has an ace up his sleeves
There’s an absolute corker of a line-up for Saturday’s racing live on ITV from Newmarket and York.
The Cesarewitch Handicap and the Dewhurst Stakes are the feature races of the day.
But there’s also a decent looking renewal of the Rockingham Stakes, too.
As ever, the Coral News Team has a glance at the stats and will look to impart some wisdom ahead of the action.
Bet of the Day
A lot of people are backing John Constable to get the job done in the Cesarewitch but this race is a favourite’s graveyard.
Only one market leader has won this one in the last 15 renewals – Darley Sun back in 2012. And it’s already a hugely competitive field as it is.
It may be more prudent to look a little down the line for some market value. Lagostovegas is relatively new to the Willie Mullins yard, but he’s been in superb form of late.
Two recent wins at Listowel and Killarney back up another couple of placed-finishes and an opening win of the season back in May.
Mullins has already said how much he loves the five-year-old and he’s booked Ryan Moore to ride him.
With 12 of the last 15 winners of the Cesarewitch coming from double-figure odds, that suits him on the trends, too.
At an each-way punt, Lagostovegas e/w is the Coral Bet of the Day.
US Navy Flag the main danger to Expert Eye
The Dewhurst Stakes really does look a fascinating duel at Newmarket.
This Group 1 renewal looks like a two-way battle between Expert Eye and US Navy Flag.
Sir Michael Stoute has had a tremendous year to date, mostly down to Ulysses’ performances. However, he’s got another potential superstar in Expert Eye.
The two-year-old is two-from-two and looked utterly superb at Glorious Goodwood back in August. He is very short in the betting, though, and that could present an opportunity to back a bit of value.
Aidan O’Brien’s US Navy Flag is a pretty huge underdog here, despite being practically level in the ratings.
Ryan Moore is booked to ride the two-year-old flyer who just had a big win in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes just a few weeks ago.
It should be a thrilling race between the pair but the value must lie with US Navy Flag.
Shabaaby, yeah
It’s off to York for a look at the Coral Rockingham Stakes, with Shabaaby looking a justified heavy favourite in this renewal over 6fl.
Owen Burrows has been mightily impressed by the two-year-old colt. He’s two-from-two after wins at Newmarket and then Doncaster.
He was beaten on debut at Salisbury but ran impressively against a now-Group 1 star in Nyaleti.
Dane O’Neill is on-board and, between the two, they should be too good for anyone else in this race.
