Joe Tizzard: “Sizing Platinum is in with a big chance at Cheltenham”

Coral get the lowdown on Joe’s contenders this weekend

Joe’s Saturday runners

2.00 Cheltenham – Viconte Du Noyer + Robinsfirth

Viconte Du Noyer is in great form. He had a gallop with Cue Card at Wincanton last week.

We think he wants three miles plus. It is a very competitive race but we believe he has a chance.

Robinsfirth is difficult to judge. He is a big horse with a lot of ability.

There is a big one in him and he has been schooling well. He will come on for his first run and eventually it will click for him.

3.10 Cheltenham – Sizing Platinum

He has a fantastic chance in this race. We were delighted with the way he ran around Newton Abbott.

He has run well at Cheltenham before so although this does look competitive, he is in with a big chance.

3.45 Cheltenham – Tempestatefloresco and Solatentif

Tempestatefloresco won four times already this summer, including the Summer Cup at Uttoxeter.

He is 10lbs lower over hurdles than he is over fences. We just really want to get him into a Pertemps qualifier as it will open up options for next spring.

The horse owes us nothing. We just have to make the most of the good ground as he does not want it soft. Solatentif keeps knocking on the door but struggles to win.

If we can get them both qualified into the Pertemps qualifier, where you have to finish in the first six to do so, we’ll be pleased.

5.30 Cheltenham – Ainchea

He has matured really well during the summer and does everything right at home.

We have thrown him in the deep end here but we will learn how good he is. He is an exciting horse.

Sunday runners

1.00 Wincanton – Lillington and Cotswold Road

Lillington didn’t really take to fences as well as we hoped he would at Fontwell.

He’s over hurdles here to give him a little bit of a confidence booster. He is more than capable of winning off this mark if it all clicks together.

Cotswold Road is going to go chasing but he had a hard fall last time.

2.10 Wincanton – Never Learn

He is a first time chaser who has had a wind operation.

He was competitive off this mark before that operation. He jumps really well at home and looks fantastic.

I think he is going to run a big race here.

2.45 Wincanton – Gentleman Jon and Bally Longford

Gentleman Jon needs the race quite badly. He blew quite hard at Wincanton last time. He loves this track and always runs his race around here.

Bally Longford was placed in a couple of decent handicaps last year, one of which was at Cheltenham behind Theatre Guide.

He had a stress fracture earlier this year but he has been going well recently at home so looks in good shape.

3.55 Wincanton – Storm Home and Unsafe Conduct

Storm Home was bought with a nice reputation from Ireland. He had all kinds of problems last year that is why he did not run.

He was second-favourite for the Champion Bumper at one stage without actually running. We think a lot of him and we will find a lot about him in this race.

Unsafe Conduct was desperately unlucky last time where he fell on the flat after his heels were clipped.

He is a free-going horse who needs a couple of runs to settle his mind down.

4.30 Wincanton – Ivor’s Queen

The race has cut up a bit so there are not as many runners as I thought there would be.

He ran well around here last week but the handicapper does like it has got hold of her a little bit.
