Bet of the Day: Tsitsipas value to beat Isner in Shanghai

Could be a Greek tragedy for American

With the international football fixtures now done, the Coral News Team turn their attention to some top-notch tennis.

The Shanghai Masters Round of 32 kicks off this morning and there’s the distinct possibility of an upset between Stefano Tsitsipas and John Isner.

Tsitsipas has been in good form in recent weeks and has showcased that plenty here in China this week.

The 19-year-old has breezed through the first three rounds, dropping just one set. The Athens-born ace stands at 6ft 4in and uses that to good effect with powerful serving.

In the previous round against Karen Khachanov, Tsitsipas absolutely destroyed the Russian. Khachanov failed to win a single break point.

Isner had a tough game against Dusan Lajovic in the last round, needing two tiebreakers to get over the line.

That will have sapped the energy of the American and having to face a big server like Tsitsipas will be the last thing he’ll want.

Backing the Greek on the Games Handicap at +2.5 at 5/6 as Coral’s Bet of the Day.

Bigger odds on the outright win

As you will have gathered now, the Coral experts are quietly confident an upset could be in the works here.

Tsitsipas has had a relatively straightforward handful of games in what you could say is a nice warm-up for a proper clash.

Isner, on the other hand, had a near two-and-a-half hour match in the Chinese heat in the previous round.

This will be the first time the pair will have played each other so Tsitsipas could take his older, more fatigued opponent by surprise.

Coral’s odds of 7/4 about the Greek winning this game outright look very tempting.

First set value

The theme continues here with the Coral News Team’s final recommendation. Should Isner win this game, he might have to do it the hard way again.

As mentioned previously, the younger fresh opponent is more likely to get off to a quicker start.

The American dropped the first set against Lajovic before coming back to win so a similar scenario could crop up in this one.

Tsitsipas at 11/8 to win on a Set 1 result looks another lovely bet.
