Bet of the Day: Lyon to leave Koeman on the brink at Everton

Published:
Goodison Park - Everton

Ligue 1 side high in confidence

Everton host Lyon in a Europa League group clash at Goodison Park on Thursday evening.

Ronald Koeman’s side are having a relatively poor season to date. And they welcome a Lyon side off the back of a morale-boosting win over Monaco.

It’s impossible to back the Blues right now with the form they are in. They have won just two of their last 11 games in all competitions.

Koeman is really struggling to get this Everton side out of a bad slump. There’s a real lack of pace and verve.

The Dutchman will have to do without up to five first-team regulars, too, and is expected to rotate.

Lyon coach Bruno Genesio will be without Clement Grenier. But he does have France international Nabil Fekir in fine form. The 24-year-old has eight goals and four assists this season.

What Everton lack, Lyon have in spades. Les Gones have pace and skill in abundance. The Ligue 1 side have lost just once all season – to Paris Saint-Germain.

That all combines to make Coral’s Bet of the Day Lyon to win at 13/8.

Attack, Attack, Attack

If there’s one thing the Coral News Team love, it’s a team that sets up to score goals – and concede them.

Lyon enjoy doing just that. In fact, the French side have conceded 12 times in their last six fixtures.

Seven of their 11 games have seen three goals or more. And you’d have to go back 11 Europa League games to find one where both teams didn’t score.

Everton also have their own defensive frailties to worry about with just one clean sheet in the last 11.

Over 2.5 goals looks tasty at 3/4 while Over 3.5 Goals is very backable at 15/8.

Fekir the man in form

As mentioned previously, Fekir is the man pulling the strings for Lyon this season.

The Les Bleus star has returned from a terrible knee injury arguably better than ever.

The inside forward scored twice in the win over Monaco including a stunning last-gasp winner with a free-kick.

If Lyon are to score at Goodison, it’s likely to be through Fekir. He’s 9/5 to score Anytime.

Wayne Rooney has been Everton’s talisman so far this term. The former England captain has four goals in nine appearances this season.

He should start in attack and is 13/8 to find the net Anytime.
