Bet of the Day: Faroes can deepen gloom for out-of-sorts Hungary

The Faroe Islands head to Hungary on Tuesday night looking to continue the best qualifying campaign in their history.
Lars Olsen’s side have taken nine points from as many games, recording five clean sheets along the way – including a shutout against Nemzeti Tizenegy in Torshavn.
As for the visitors, they’ve been in dire form in 2017. Last summer’s European Championship appearance seems a distant dream for a team who’ve lost six of their previous seven games, scoring just five goals in that period.
A victory on this trip may be just beyond the Faroes, but there’s every chance they’ll prove stiff competition for their hosts. Coral’s Bet of the Day is Faroe Islands +2 at 21/20.
Away draw a possibility for solid visitors
As it stands, the Faroes have kept a clean sheet in more than half of their WCQ games, including each of the last two. That’s part of a longer trend, with Portugal the only side to net more than two goals against Landslidid since the end of 2015.
The Hungarians have played out five draws since the start of 2016, including that 0-0 draw with the Faroes last September. With just four wins from 18 games, victory is far from guaranteed for Bernd Storck’s men.
Having already proved they can frustrate this opposition, Olsen’s charges look well priced to do so again. Match Betting: Draw is priced up at 17/4.
Low-scoring affair looks likely
The Faroes are not a team for goal-filled games – especially of late.
Seven of their nine WCQ matches have produced two goals or fewer, including the recent meetings with Latvia and Andorra. They’ve also tended to be involved in tight affairs against Hungary, with the previous three meetings producing a combined four goals.
Talking of Nemzeti Tizenegy, they’ve drawn a blank in nine of their past 18 games, as well as chalking up five clean sheets in that time. Under 2.5 Goals looks like a smart bet at odds of 19/20.
