Plenty of top-flight excitement ahead

The Premier League starts with a huge game this weekend as Manchester United face Tottenham Hotspur.

But as always, there’ll be drama up and down the country in the top-flight.  The Coral News Team have taken a look at some of the key talking points…

How will Jose Mourinho set up against Tottenham?

Manchester United are 6/5 favourites against Tottenham Hotspur in Saturday’s early kick-off. However, Jose Mourinho is likely to set up his side to contain Spurs and get a goal on the break.

Spurs will be without their biggest goal threat in Harry Kane. They’re still a strong side, but this could be a great chance for United to beat a potential title rival.

United have stuttered since Mourinho’s decision to play very cautiously in the 0-0 draw against Liverpool. Another defensive display could see them lose further ground on league-leaders Manchester City.

How will Leicester begin the Claude Puel era?

It’s fair to say Leicester City’s appointment of Claude Puel wasn’t met with a rapturous reception from many of their fans.

The support may be underwhelmed with the former Southampton boss, but he has the chance to start impressing against Everton this weekend.

Everton are without a permanent manager and have only won two of their last 13 games. They could prove to be ideal opposition. Leicester are 23/20 to win at the King Power Stadium.

Can David Unsworth stake his claim for the Everton job?

Speaking of Everton, they’ll be led by caretaker manager David Unsworth this week.

The Toffees lost to Chelsea in midweek but it was a much-improved display in Unsworth’s first game in charge.

The former Everton defender worked with many of the promising youngsters in the first-team squad while they were in his Under-23 side. Press reports suggest the players are backing him to get the job until the end of the season. A win against Leicester would certainly help his chances.

Will Jurgen Klopp ring the changes?

Liverpool’s defence has been a weakness all season. But their backline hit new depths of despair in the 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Dejan Lovren was hauled off after just 30 minutes as a result of his hapless display. Simon Mignolet was very unconvincing in goal.

The Reds’ problems at the back aren’t entirely down to individual errors. But Lovren and Mignolet will consider themselves fortunate if they’re in the starting XI against Huddersfield Town.

Can West Ham build on their cup success?

West Ham United looked to be heading to a limp defeat when they went 2-0 down to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

That would have ramped up the pressure on Slaven Bilic even further. But the Hammers rallied in the second half. They produced a stunning comeback to beat their rivals 3-2.

That result could now be the springboard to turn their campaign around. Bilic’s side are 11/5 to beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
