After four weeks of the season, things in Serie A have a familiar feel about them.
Juventus and Napoli are both yet to drop points, while sides like Crotone and Benevento are still awaiting their first victories.
And with the Autumn phase of the campaign fast approaching, the Coral News Team have picked out five players who have shone so far…
Paulo Dybala
Let’s start with the man who is arguably the biggest name in Serie A today – Paulo Dybala.
Touted by many as the next Lionel Messi, the Juventus striker has started the campaign in blistering fashion.
The 23-year-old has netted eight goals from just four games, including a pair of hat-tricks.
He’s just three short of his total for the whole of last season, and at his current rate is on course to score 76 goals by the end of the campaign. Seriously.
Ciro Immobile
Lazio’s Ciro Immobile hit a handsome 23 goals last term, and the Italian is on course to smash that total this time around.
With six strikes already for the campaign, Immobile is scoring 66% of Lazio’s goals and proving an absolute bargain having joined the Roman club for just £8.75m from Borussia Dortmund in 2016.
And if the 27-year-old continues this form, he’ll make a major claim for a starting spot in Italy’s World Cup squad next summer.
Lorenzo Insigne
While Dybala and Immobile pick up the credit for scoring the goals, it’s Lorenzo Insigne who is the assist-king in Serie A.
The Napoli ace has caught the Coral News Team’s attention by averaging an assist-per-game so far this year, helping his side to a perfect four wins from four.
Ivan Perisic
But if it’s direct contributions that make a star, then Ivan Perisic is just that for Inter Milan.
The Croatian is already on three goals and three assists for the season, a remarkable tally after just four games.
His performances so far are a clear indicator of why Manchester United were so keen to sign him this summer.
Lucas Castro
Coral’s football gurus aren’t just interested in the goalscorers.
And Chievo’s Lucas Castro has made a fine impression in the early weeks of the season.
He may be a midfielder, but the Argentine has been putting in quite a shift at the back.
With 13 blocks and 16 tackles, Castro’s defensive stats are head and shoulders above anyone else in Serie A.
