Charlotte’s odds cut for early Strictly exit
Published:Ahead of this weekend’s opening show of the new series, Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins is the 3-1 favourite with bookmaker Coral to be the first celebrity eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing, having been a 16-1 outsider to go first a fortnight ago. Chef Simon Rimmer is the 7-2 second favourite to go first, ahead of Susan Calman at 4-1.
“We didn’t think Charlotte would be at risk of an early exit when we opened betting on this a couple of weeks ago, and made her a 16-1 outsider to go first, but punters clearly think the Good Morning Britain presenter could be saying Goodbye Britain and she’s now clear favourite to get the boot first,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
At the other end of the betting, Aston Merrygold is Coral’s 3-1 favourite to lift the glitterball trophy, ahead of fellow popstar Mollie King at 4-1, while chef Simon Rimmer is 3-1 favourite to be the first contestant voted off the show.
Meanwhile, Bruno Tonioli is 6-4 favourite with Coral to be the first judge to award a perfect ten score in the new series, while Coral go 25-1 that a ten is given in week one, but just 5-1 that any celebrity falls over this week.
Coral are also odds-on, at 1-2, that next year’s Strictly Come Dancing will include a same-sex couple for the first time.
“The debate over same-sex couples taking part in Strictly has dominated the build-up to the new series, with judge Craig Revel Horwood saying it will probably happen next year, and our odds reflect that viewpoint; certainly it’s more likely to happen than not in 2018,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
