The top tip for Day 2 at Doncaster

Today is the second day of Doncaster’s St Leger Festival. This is always one of the biggest weeks in the horse racing calendar and the Coral News Team can’t wait for the action to unfold.

There are four races set to be shown live on ITV4, including the Group 2 May Hill Stakes and the Park Hill Stakes. And it’s all about the girls on Ladies Day with both the May Hill and Park Hill set to showcase some of the finest fillies and mares.

Who to back?

Mark Johnston’s Nyaleti is one of those fillies in the May Hill at 2.25. She had been in great form before a sixth-placed finish at Deauville last time out.

Before that, she had romped home in the Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot.

The two-year-old should bounce back from that disappointment in France and is the horse to beat here. Today’s Bet of the Day is Nyaleti to win the 2.25.

The other contenders

Tajaanus has recently won at Sandown and Newmarket. She’s also had a month off so should be in great shape. She’ll be making the step up from 7f to a mile here and Richard Hannon’s filly is another filly to consider.

Laurens is also merits attentions. Karl Burke’s filly won on this course on her debut in July and finished second behind Polydream in a Group 3 contest at Deauville last time out. She’s running a mile for the first time and looks well suited to the distance.

And the other filly to note is Billesdon Brook, who’s finished in the top three in all seven of her starts. She likes to make a late surge, which could work well over the longer distance.
