‘Money’ looks nailed-on at 2/7

Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor is a matter of days away, as the world’s media descend upon the Las Vegas strip for what has been the fight promotion of the decade.

After two months of hype, four gigantic press conferences across four major cities, and thousands of column inches, it’s finally time to put up or shut up.

Everyone has their own opinion as to how this bout will go, but what are the latest odds from Coral suggesting? Well, simply put, it doesn’t look too good for the MMA superstar.

Fight Betting

Mayweather is obviously hot favourite, but it’s quite startling to see the undefeated American at 2/7 to win.

Remember this is one of the greatest ever boxers – undoubtedly the best of his generation – going up against someone making their pro debut.

If you’re asking the Coral News team, McGregor at 11/4 simply isn’t backable in terms of sheer value.

Fight to go the Distance

It’s 4/11 we see this one go all 12 rounds, and 2/1 it doesn’t. That suggests there’ll be a stoppage of some kind on either end.

Considering the fact that they’re going to be fighting with 8oz gloves and that’s eminently probable. McGregor is already known for his power so dueling with lighter gloves increases that.

Mayweather isn’t known for his KO power with the normal 10oz gloves so a reduction in weight also increases his chances of getting the Irishman out of there quicker.

Method of Victory

It’s 8/11 Mayweather wins by KO, TKO or Disqualification. With the information available above, that seems hugely generous.

McGregor has never fought professionally so it’s not certain if he has the gas to last 12 boxing rounds.

The Dubliner has only gone the distance twice during his MMA career, most recently the 25-minute, five round war against Nate Diaz.

With that unknown and the likely increase in Mayweather’s power, the odds look very tempting indeed.

It’s 5/2 Mayweather wins by decision. If you believe McGregor somehow sparks out the greatest defensive technician ever, it’s 3/1.
