Liverpool have been cut into 11-8 (from 2-1) by leading bookmaker Coral to sign Virgil Van Dijk before the summer transfer window closes. The Dutch defender is 4-6 to still be at Southampton on September 1, while he is 4-1 to join defending champions Chelsea.

Elsewhere, Alexis Sanchez is 11-4 to move to Manchester City, Ross Barkley is 11-8 to switch to Tottenham from Everton and Riyad Mahrez is 2-1 to transfer to Chelsea.

“This latest money suggests Virgil Van Dijk’s move to Liverpool from Southampton could still be on. The Reds have been the favourites to secure his signature all summer and punters still believe that deal will go through before the end of the transfer window,” said Coral’s John Hill.

This afternoon Coral as taken a flurry of bets on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain joining Chelsea where the firm has cut their odds into 5-2 (from 4-1). The England international is 8-13 to remain at Arsenal and 11-4 to move up north to join Liverpool.

“Oxlade-Chamberlain has turned down Arsenal’s latest contract offer and that has prompted a gamble on the England international joining defending champions Chelsea before the transfer window closes,” added Hill.
