Defoe scores at Newbury to earn Leger price cut

Coral has cut Defoe to 7-1 (from 10-1) for next month’s St Leger, following the colt’s victory in this afternoon’s Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury.  Capri and Crystal Ocean are the 7-2 joint favourites for the season’s final Classic.

Elsewhere, Lady Aurelia is the 5-4 (from 6-4) favourite for next week’s Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes, while Barney Roy is the clear 5-2 (from 11-4) market leader with Coral for the Juddmonte International.
