Top bet goes at Bath

Wednesday’s British and Irish horse racing schedule is made up of afternoon meetings at Bath, Brighton and Pontefract, while those looking for an interest to take us through to dark are catered for thanks to Kempton, Yarmouth and Sligo.

Coral is the home of horse racing value. Click here to check the latest prices and place your bets. Our popular race-by-race selections take you through the seven at Bath, while Lansdown Hill also provides the setting for our Wednesday NAP, detailed below.

Dowayla arrives in great form

The tape goes up on the first from Bath at 2.00pm and Lucky Clover is expected to live up to the name and get us off on the winning foot. Flick through our selections towards the foot of this page and club together your favourites to make a big price multiple. Ace of the afternoon lines up in the 3.30pm – the Kelston Cup.

Nine runners battle it out over the one mile two furlongs trip for a near £9,000 prize pot, and a solid case could be made for a few of these, but the one to carry our stake money is Dowayla for Saeed bin Suroor. The three-year-old filly arrives with a CV showing two wins and a second from five starts, including victory last time out at this very track.

Egan booking a positive

Running over a mile last month, she went off 5/2 favourite, and proved the market to be shrewd, beating Arctic Sea home by a length to delight followers. There was a lot to like about that performance, Dowayla dragging them along from the start, making all then finding more when challenged in the closing stages.

There was enough in that effort to suggest she has more to give and will handle the step up to 1m 2f. Was at her best that day, and despite being in with a better class of opponent on Wednesday, we make her more than capable of continuing her progress. She’s been hit with a 6lb rise for that win, but jockey David Egan should help sort that.
