Bet of the Day: Both teams to score in Villa v Wigan

Published:

All-action affair expected at Villa Park

Aston Villa host League One’s Wigan Athletic at Villa Park in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening. And there should be goals – at both ends.

Steve Bruce’s side finally got their first win of the season at home to Norwich last Saturday and will be looking to follow it up with back-to-back wins against the Lactics.

Paul Cook’s team top the League One table so far with three wins from three and will be looking to cause an upset in the West Midlands.

Here are the latest top tips from Coral…

BTTS looks value

Anyone who watched the highlights of Villa’s win over Norwich will have been mightily impressed. After a torrid few games, the Villans finally sparked to life, scoring four goals in the process.

Going forward the Claret & Blues looked like scoring every time they wanted to. However, given they play again on Friday evening at Bristol City, Steve Bruce may rotate a little here.

They looked shaky at the back at times on Saturday, and Wigan will look to capitalise.

Having scored six goals in three league games, the 4/5 on Both Teams To Score is the Coral News Team’s Bet of the Day.

Hourihane on fire

Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane bagged a hat-trick at the weekend, taking his tally to four in two games.

Bruce simply cannot afford to drop the ex-Barnsley skipper so the 14/5 on him to score anytime looks terrific value.

For Wigan, former Manchester United forward Nick Powell has three goals this season. At 5/2 anytime, he’s worth a punt.
