There’s great action to enjoy in Berkshire
There’s some quality racing action at Ripon and Newmarket this weekend, but it’s Saturday’s card at Newbury which has caught the eye at Coral. And the Bet of the Day comes in the Geoffrey Freer Stakes at 2.25.
Gosden’s charge to come good again
Our tip for the 2.25 race is the exciting To Eternity. Read on to find out why we’re confident this filly will romp to victory…
First off, her trainer John Gosden is enjoying a real purple patch at present, with his much-fancied Purser beating all challengers at Newbury on Friday.
But it’s To Eternity’s own form which really seals this one. The filly hasn’t been out of the first two in any of her previous six races, and won a Listed contest at Newmarket on her return last time out. Don’t be surprised to see the four-year-old hack up in this contest.
The other runners
The tip in the 3.00 Ladies Day Handicap is Mountain Rescue, with the gelding in fine fettle right now. Successive top-two finishes at Newmarket mean it’s easy to like the look of an Each-Way bet, especially following success at the start of the month.
In the Hungerford Stakes at 3.35, there’s something about another Gosden horse, in the form of lively longshot Nathra. She hasn’t been as strong in the past 12 months, but has won at this course before. Is this the day the filly returns to top form?
