Bet of the Day: Aidan O’Brien’s September to delight on Sunday

Published:

Sunday sees some cracking racing from the Curragh with a number of excellent-looking renewals to keep horse racing fans entertained.

However, all eyes are on the Debutante Stakes as Aidan O’Brien’s Happily and September go head-to-head.

Ballydoyle face-off

Ryan Moore goes on Happily with the two-year-old in sparkling form ahead of this race.

With a record of two wins from three on the flat and back-to-back victories, it’s understandable that Coral have made her slight initial favourite ahead of her stablemate, September.

O’Brien’s other filly hasn’t raced since her last appearance at Royal Ascot so should be fresh coming to the South-East track.

The current ante-post favourite for the 1,000 Guineas beat the impressive Nyaleti last month and is two-from-two on the flat.

The other runners

To complete the Ballydoyle involvement here, O’Brien has also included Magical, who is a sister to last year’s winner Rhododendron.

Godolphin should also have a say in this renewal with Jim Bolger’s Dawn Delivers and Willie McCreery’s Mary Tudor running.

Previous Curragh winner, Black Sails, and Galway maiden winner Sheikba will also be competing.

Who to back

Despite Moore going on Happily, it’s September at slightly longer odds that’s the Bet of the Day.

Her extra class should see her edge to another win and three consecutive victories on the spin.
