3 reasons Renato Sanches to Swansea City makes perfect sense

Here’s why Bayern outcast should choose Swans

He’s been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United this summer, but now Swansea City have sensationally emerged as serious contenders to bring Bayern Munich’s Renato Sanches in on loan.

With the Swans having former FCB number two Paul Clement at the helm, it’s believed they could have the edge in the tussle for the winger, who has found himself out of favour at the Allianz Arena.

Despite bigger clubs hovering around the 20-year-old, the Coral News team think a switch to the Liberty Stadium would be the ideal move for the Portuguese prodigy. Here’s why…

Game time and star status guaranteed in a top league

Arguably the fulcrum of a title-winning Benfica team in 2015-16, Sanches was the name on everyone’s lips. As a hugely confident player, he played his best football under the spotlight, as a proverbial ‘big fish’ in the Portuguese league.

In a star-studded Bayern side, the youngster has found it much tougher to impose himself. Despite playing 25 times last season, Sanches only managed the full 90 minutes on two occasions, and failed to record a single goal or assist in all competitions.

However, at Swansea, there’s every chance he could shine brightly with all eyes and expectation on him. Add to that the fact he’s virtually guaranteed a starting place in central midfield, with the likes of Tom Carroll and Leroy Fer unlikely to pip him in the pecking order, and this looks a very smart – if unusual – move.

Oh, and unlike at Benfica, the Amadora native would have the chance to test himself and develop against the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Man United, as opposed to playing in a league of comparatively poor quality.

Sanches offers ideal partner for new man Mesa

Despite arriving for a sizeable sum (£11.25m) and much fanfare, the early signs from new Swans midfielder Roque Mesa haven’t been especially cheering. He was part of a midfield roundly outclassed by Man United in the 4-0 rout earlier this month, and failed to do a great deal in the Carabao Cup defeat of MK Dons.

However, that likely has more to do with the Spaniard not having the right partner in the centre of the park. A diminutive yet tricky player with an eye for a neat pass, his perfect foil – on paper at least – is the powerful, energetic and dynamic Sanches.

With Mesa currently being played in a holding role, despite being a natural central midfielder, it seems Clement is struggling to find the right way to utilise the former Las Palmas man. A Sanches-Mesa pairing with a holding midfielder behind them could be just the trick.

Clement has a great track record with young talents

As Assistant Manager at Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, during periods of great success for each club, it’s fair to say Paul Clement knows plenty about developing young talents.

The likes of Marco Verratti, Daniel Sturridge and Raphael Varane (to name just a few) went from little-known prospects to outstanding performers under the tutelage of Clement and his number-one Carlo Ancelotti.

With Sanches’ career having somewhat stalled at the Allianz Arena, one could hardly think of a better coach to help him fulfil his potential than Clement.

Next up for Swansea City is the visit of Newcastle United on Sunday. The Swans are currently 5/4 to beat the Magpies with Coral.
