British star claims fourth title in five years

There was something for everyone at the weekend, with headlines made across a number of major sports, including cycling, diving, golf, football and horse racing. Chris Froome stole the show when winning his fourth Tour de France title in five years.

The British cyclist has set the standard at the world-famous race over the last few years, and is showing no signs of slowing up. Elsewhere, and Magical Memory proved a worthy favourite, winning the group three Hackwood Stakes at Newbury. Plenty to talk about on Monday morning, here’s Coral’s results in pictures…..

Britain waited 110 years for a winner of the Tour de France, before Chris Froome single-handedly changed history. The 32-year-old Team Sky rider rode to success this weekend, meaning he has won the title in four of the last five years. A stunning achievement.

Magical Memory was pre-race favourite with Coral to bank this year’s Hackwood Stakes at Newbury on Saturday, under the ride of Frankie Dettori, and the pair delivered, beating nearest rival Perfect Angel by 1 ¼ lengths. The champion was seen running on at the end.

Former Fulham and Tottenham striker Clint Dempsey helped Team USA into the final of the Gold Cup. The 34-year-old set-up the first and scored the second in a 2-0 semi-final win over Costa Rica on Saturday, equalling Landon Donovan’s scoring record in the process.

Tom Daley claimed World Championship gold in Budapest on Saturday. Competing in the 10-metre platform dive, he recorded a score that would’ve been enough to see him strike gold at the Olympics, but the 23-year-old seems to be looking towards the future.

Jordan Spieth won The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, edging out Matt Kuchar on a dramatic Sunday. 23-year-old American Spieth claimed his third major, adding to previous wins at The Masters and US Open in 2015. Jordan handed in a score of 12 under par.
