Five to keep close from the Champions League

UEFA Champions League qualifiers continue on Wednesday and we have some interesting matches to sort through, including Dundalk’s home tie with Rosenborg, while plucky underdogs Ludogorets fall back into our sights.

Elsewhere, and there’s action from the Europa League and Gold Cup. Click here to place your midweek accumulators with us, or read on as we detail our handy five-fold, where every £10 down returns £125.40, if luck is on our side.

Malmo beat Vardar

Swedish side Malmo have recent experience of holding their own in European competition and will be looking to call upon that to fire themselves towards the money-spinning group stages. Getting involved with the big boys could change a club like Malmo’s future, even if they fail to win a match once in the Champions League proper. This looks like a chance to stretch the legs and they should put the tie to bet at home. 2/7 gets the ball rolling.

Beer-Sheva beat Budapest

Beer-Sheva impressed last summer when running Celtic close in the early rounds of this competition. Losing 5-2 in Glasgow, it looked like they were dead and buried, but the Israeli side proved just how capable they are on their own patch when winning the reverse, eventually edged out 5-4 on aggregate. If they can match that, they should walk through at 4/11.

Maribor beat Zrinjski

One that should help boost up our returns, if we call it right. Maribor are on the road and there’s little doubt this will be a tough tie, but I think Coral traders have been a little hasty in writing them off as 8/5 shots. This isn’t mission impossible, and they should be trusted to get the job done over two legs and progress. A touch of value in the price, so they go in to help our cause.

Ludogorets beat Zalgiris

Another travelling side who are expected to do the business away from home and put one foot in the next round. They wrote their names in history by becoming the first Bulgarian side to win points in the Champions League group stages when beating FC Basel 1-0 not too long ago. On their day they are capable of upsetting a few teams at this level, and will know enough to get past Zalgiris at a useful 1/2.

Rosenborg beat Dundalk

Lastly, we finish with one at a nice price in Rosenborg, but I think it’s one worth having. The picks go to Ireland as betting favourites, and so they should, but there’s still enough of a price available to give us an interest. It promises to be an entertaining match-up, but 5/6 shouldn’t be sniffed at, and looks the perfect way to round us off.
