Back the Scot in a grudge match

Boxing fans have an action-packed weekend ahead, with Josh Taylor vs Ohara Davies the main event. The super lightweight Commonwealth and WBC Silver titles are on the line as these two undefeated champions face-off in front of the channel five cameras on Saturday in Glasgow.

That’s one of a long list of fascinating bouts coming your way this summer, and Coral are betting on the outcome of every round in every fight. Click here to pick the winner of Taylor – Davies, or build your weekend multiples.

Amateur star undefeated as a pro

A Scotland vs England tussle, both gladiators duck between the ropes undefeated, looking destined for the top. Taylor puts his Commonwealth title on the line, Davies risks the WBC silver gong he worked so hard to get. It’s an all or nothing match-up, and one strictly for lovers of the sport.

Josh Taylor struck gold at the Commonwealth Games in 2014, and has had plenty of joy since ditching the vest and moving into the professional ranks. A perfect nine-fight record boasts eight wins by KO/TKO. The 26-year-old southpaw from Edinburgh is being hyped as a future world champion, and the man to take over from Ricky Burns north of the border.

Josh Taylor to show his class

Taylor has done nothing but impress so far, last seen cutting down Warren Joubert in six rounds for the Commonwealth strap in the Scottish capital earlier this year. The beaten fighter was sent to the canvas in round six, his corner throwing in the towel to end the pain. Our traders have taken note of the form, and have the local lad priced as an 8/11 favourite to bag another win, and another title in the process.

Punters with a bit more confidence in The Tartan Tornado will be encouraged by the 5/2 available at Coral on another inside-the-distance win, while a points cheer goes slightly shorter in the method of victory market, currently trading at 2/1. The latter is how we see this one going.

Londoner an underdog with real bite

Ohara Davies may rate as the underdog here, but the fast-talking Londoner has an unblemished record of his own to shout about, and will walk out in front of a hostile Glasgow crowd as the more experienced man of the two. 15-0 with 12 KO wins means he’ll be taken seriously by everyone connected to Team Taylor, including the fighter himself.

Davies was last spotted settling a bad-tempered dispute with Derry Matthews in March, bringing the Scouser down in three rounds at the 02 Arena, on the undercard of Haye vs Bellew. If you fancy the Englishman to get the win, Coral are giving out 11/10. Davies brings an 80 per cent knockout average across the border, ensuring the 5/2 on another KO/TKO will attract a fair share of attention. That seems a lot more likely than him winning over the judges in Scotland, a points verdict 7/2.
