Manchester United moved to tie down goalkeeper Sergio Romero’s future over the weekend, causing many to predict David de Gea is finally on his way to Real Madrid. How much truth there is in that remains to be seen, but we’ll keep you posted.

Hart off to West Ham – on loan
It’s finally going to happen, Joe Hart will be leaving Manchester City. The England number one retuned from a loan spell at Torino to find his bags packed at the Etihad, he just wasn’t sure where he was off to. The 30-year-old shot-stopper now looks set for London, and is having a medical at West Ham on Monday. It was believed The Citizens would let him go on the cheap, but newspaper reports tell us he’s out on another loan deal, which doesn’t do his long-term future much good, but City will pay part of his wages, which explains it. Regular football in the Premier League will only help his case for a place in the starting line-up at next year’s World Cup.
Madrid will sell Bale to make way for Mbappe
The race continues for Kylian Mbappe’s signature, and it now looks to be a straight shoot-out between Arsenal and Real Madrid. Tabloids tell us that the Monaco scorer would prefer a move to the Emirates, teaming up with Arsene Wenger – that would certainly get fans back on the gaffer’s side – but Madrid are confident throwing money around will solve the situation. So much so they are willing to sell Gareth Bale to raise the cash. The Welsh wizard was left on the bench for most of the Champions League final, and was a target for Jose Mourinho earlier in the season, but wasn’t everyone. We’re sure Everton would have him. When the United move was first mentioned, Bale wasn’t keen, saying he’d prefer to stay and fight for his place at Madrid. He may not have an option.
Chelsea bid £88m for Higuain
This one may have flown under the radar – perhaps the bigger newspapers don’t believe it – but there were rumours connecting Chelsea with an £88m bid for Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain. Now, wouldn’t that just make up for missing out on Lukaku? Apparently, the Italian giants rejected the offer, but Conte is said to be desperate for a big-name summer signing, and needs at least one proven striker if he is to make a dent in the Champions League and two-in-a-row. 29-year-old Higuain cost The Old Lady 90 million euros last summer. We’ll let you know if The Blues decide to stick or twist there.
