Brit has won three of last five

Lewis Hamilton tightened his grip over the British Grand Prix two weeks ago, racing to the top step ahead of runner-up Valtteri Bottas and Kimi Raikkonen. The charge is now on for the world championship.

Hamilton has been dominant at Silverstone over the last few years, and the 2017 race couldn’t have gone any better for the Brit, taking maximum points, with rival Sebastian Vettel ending back in seventh. Lewis bagged 25 points, Vettel only six. There’s just a point between the two in the overall leaderboard. Click here to place your F1 bets.

Lewis wants two in-a-row

Attentions now turn to Budapest and the Hungarian Grand Prix, which is settled over the course of the weekend. Hamilton boasts four Grand Prix wins so far this season, against the three of Vettel and two of Bottas. A fifth win on Sunday would move the 32-year-old top of the driver’s championship, regardless of what his rivals achieve on the day.

He won this race last year, beating Nico Rosberg into second, Daniel Ricciardo completing the podium places. It was all about Mercedes that day, and will be again this year, according to our traders. The Brackley based team are nailed on to win the constructors championship, 1/10 currently doing the rounds.

United States Grand Prix tips

A worthy favourite

F1 punters won’t be surprised to see our team price Hamilton up as favourite to win the race going in to the week, and that’s a strategy they have adopted from the start. It hasn’t let them down too often either. Getting in early will help you secure the value on your driver of choice, and those who fancy Hamilton to continue his winning ways will find 5/6 available at the time of writing.

The season so far has been action-packed, but last year’s Hungarian Grand Prix was uneventful in comparison. Lewis eased his way to the win, looking in complete control from start to finish, passing team-mate Nico Rosberg in the early laps, and then defending that lead. He’d love a repeat this weekend. That means he has won three of the last five renewals.

Ricciardo the value play

All the talk in the lead up to the Hungarian Grand Prix has been about Hamilton, but Vettel remains at the head of the championship, and will be eager to put a nightmare British GP behind him. There’s just a point the difference at present, Vettel leading the way on 177, and he’s 13/8 to hold his position at the final count. The German did win this race in 2015, making our 3/1 about a Seb cheer worth a second look.

Australian Daniel Ricciardo claimed the Azerbaijan Grand Prix last month, and the Red Bull pilot went on to place in Austria. He wasn’t far off the pace at Silverstone last time either, ending fifth for 10 points. Fancy an upset? Ricciardo won the Hungarian GP three years ago, and the form driver is 10/1 to repeat the feat.
