Germany have had no trouble finding the net

Germany have been impressive on route to the final, finishing as Group B winners ahead of runners up Chile with a record of two wins and a draw. Two points better than Sunday’s opponents at that stage, they beat Australia and Cameroon but ended level with Chile, just to make things that bit more interesting.

That does, however, give followers of the form something solid to go on. Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez fired Chile ahead that day with just six minutes on the clock, a goal that made him his country’s leading scorer, passing Marcelo Salas in the process. It was a short-lived lead, Lars Stindl hitting an equaliser before the break. Evenly matched in the final score, there was very little in the match stats to separate the rivals either – 54% possession against 46% in Germany’s favour, 10 shots to Chile’s 11. Neutrals hope Sunday’s show lives up to that level of entertainment.

Germany have been priced as favourites in the betting, but there’s not too much in it at present, 6/4 on the jollies to win in 90 minutes, or 8/11 to lift the trophy. They’ve had no trouble finding the net in Russia, notching 11 goals in four matches, but that has come at a cost, conceding five. Both teams have scored in each of Germany’s Confederations Cup matches so far, and the same again here will bank you 4/5. Both score in a German win is how we’d play this, with Coral’s 4/1 looking a treat.

Chile’s form points to another even finish

Chile weren’t quite as impressive in the early rounds, taking just five points from a possible nine. Getting off to the perfect start, they brushed past Cameroon courtesy of a 2-0 result to get the ball rolling, but had to settle for that 1-1 share vs Germany, and finished with another two-goal draw vs Australia.

Matched with Portugal in the semis, Juan Antonio Pizzi’s men were written off by just about everyone before the start, but battled their way through to the final, thanks to another draw. The teams couldn’t be separated, finishing goalless, but La Roja were on target when it mattered, winning the resulting shoot-out 3-0. Man City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo was in fine form, saving penalties from Quaresma, Moutinho and Nani.

Chile’s form makes another draw difficult to ignore, and if you find yourself sitting on the fence, there’s 23/10 about an even finish. Fancy the upset? It’s well worth having a go at Coral, as we will hand over 2/1 if you correctly predict a Chile win. Premier League rumours have Alexis Sanchez off to Man City when he returns from Russia, and the hitman goes as an 11/2 shot to score first.
