Bet of the day: Wednesday’s racing

Play the waiting game at Lingfield

Tuesday’s NAP Dawn Of Hope was beaten a neck at Pontefract in the Pipalong Stakes. Tough to take, but we’re looking in the right places, and aim to get back to winning ways on Wednesday, with meetings scheduled at Catterick, Lingfield, Yarmouth, Bath, Kempton and Dundalk. You won’t be short of an interest then.

We shine the spotlight on Lingfield, where seven legs take us from curtain up at 2.25pm to curtain down at 5.50pm. Below you’ll find our strongest pick, aimed at boosting your betting balance, or those on the go can take the best of our race-by-race selections. Click here to place your Wednesday bets.

All change for Glenamoy Lad

Hannington is picked out to get us off on the winning foot, but we’re little more than interested spectators until the lucky last, where you’ll find our NAP going in a maiden stakes. We’re confident enough to put a line through most of the eight-runner field, but Glenamoy Lad looks worth siding with. The three-year-old hasn’t done a lot to impress in his eight starts so far, but that should all change.

Campaigned in Ireland, he showed bits and pieces of his ability since debuting at Tipperary last May, but hasn’t been seen in competitive action since finishing in midtable at Dundalk back in November. During that time away a lot has changed, including a shift in trainer, now under the guidance of Michael Wigham.

NAP ready to show his class

Making his stable debut, we hold high hopes our boy can finally deliver the quality that we know is in him. Despite not winning, Glenamoy Lad does go in with the best form of the race, and he hasn’t been harshly treated in defeat either, so should still be fresh enough and ready to show his class. The NAP has been mixing it in much better company than he faces here.

Punters who like to take encouragement from the stats will be glad to know trainer Michael Wigham has a fantastic record of getting horses the win needed after an extended break, and he’ll fancy his chances of enhancing that here. This goes as his main play of the day, and Coral traders are keen on keeping the selection close. One to boost up your multiples.
