Chelsea enter race for Arsenal star

There’s no doubt about the story dominating summer transfer news columns, with Cristiano Ronaldo set to leave Real Madrid. It remains to be seen where the Portuguese star will end up, with Manchester United and PSG believed to be leading the race.

CR7 is not the only man on the move however, and Coral’s rumour reel column brings you the latest gossip, whispers and confirmed deals from British football. Let’s check in on what’s got football fans talking in midweek.

Oxlade Chamberlian Arsenal

Chelsea want Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Blues boss Antonio Conte is targeting a number of improvements to his squad as he looks to win two-in-a-row in the Premier League and return Chelsea to the top of the Champions League. The Londoners were impressive last season, but a number of positions need strengthening with European football in mind. The club are now believed to be on the hunt for Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, but will face a fight if they are to land their man. The 23-year-old has also caught the eye of Liverpool and Manchester City, and the player himself will have the final say on that one.

Hart finally on the move

You wait months for a club to show an interest, and then two come along at once. Man City goalkeeper Joe Hard will be leaving the Etihad this summer, he just doesn’t know where he’ll call home come the big kick-off. The England shot-stopper has been told he can leave The Citizens, and was sweating over a move, but now looks set to decide between West Ham and Man Utd. The Hammers would be a great fit for Hart, and nailing down the number one spot in Stratford would enable the 30-year-old to continue his England career. Man Utd are set to offer David De Gea as part-exchange for Cristiano Ronaldo however, and if that goes through, Hart is seen as a perfect replacement.

Dani Alves could be bound for City

Manchester City are close to completing the transfer of Juventus right back Dani Alves, who wants to move to England and reunite with boss Pep Guardiola. His current employers appear to have accepted their fate on that one, and aren’t going to stand in the Brazilian’s way, offering to terminate his contract by mutual consent, allowing him to pack for England. Chelsea are expected to stage an 11th hour bid to tempt Alves, but it looks like his mind is made up on playing in light blue.
