Spanish kings to ransack England

It may be less than a week since the FA Cup final, but clubs are already making major moves on their summer transfer targets, with British football’s biggest teams working through their shopping lists. Rangers signed Portuguese legend Bruno Alves on Wednesday, as we said they would, and fans are excited.

It’s a real period of change in Govan, and The Gers are expected to add Mexico international Carlos Pena this week too, with Graham Dorrans and Ryan Jack not far behind. Let’s check up on the top transfer stories doing the rounds this morning…..

Wenger to tie down Sanchez and Ozil

So, Arsene Wenger performed a stunning u-turn and will now be staying on at Arsenal, much to the surprise of fans. The French gaffer, who led his side to FA Cup success last weekend, has now made Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil his number one priority, with the future of both men still undecided. Newspaper reports say the club will bend over backwards to keep both players, with figures reaching £350,000 a week thrown around. That’s modern football, and with the board convincing Wenger to stay, they must now back him with hard cash. He’s certainly made them enough over the years. Will we see a summer of spending at the Emirates?

Sanchez to score two or more

De Gea’s going nowhere

Breaking story of the week so far came out of Old Trafford, but it wasn’t Jose being linked to another top European striker, it was goalkeeper David de Gea’s potential move to Real Madrid that caught everyone off guard. The talented shot-stopper, who made Coral’s team of the year, has been one of the better players in red this term, and caught the eye of the La Liga kings, who slapped a £60m bid on the table. Man Utd bosses wasted no time in knocking it back, but it’s not the last we’ll hear on that one. Los Blancos are a team used to getting what they want. Will The Red Devils stand firm? In the end, it’ll be the player who has the final say.

Real raid on Premier League

The La Liga champions seem intent on raiding the Premier League for its top stars this summer, and while dropping a call to Manchester about the possibility of a move for de Gea, they were also bending the ear of Chelsea chiefs in London, with Eden Hazard the target. The red tops tell fans Madrid have tested the ground with a £100m bid for the 26-year-old, loose change to Stamford Bridge owner Roman Abramovich. The clubs should fire back-and-forth during the better weather but, again, if Hazard wants to play his football in Spain, there will be no one stopping him. Could the champions lose Costa and Hazard? They would take some replacing.
