Odds on a hung parliament shorten with three days to go

The odds on Thursday’s General Election resulting in a Hung Parliament shortened again today, with bookmaker Coral cutting the odds to 4/1 from 5/1 after a run of bets on that outcome.

Whilst the Conservative Party are long odds-on at 1/10 to win the most seats in Thursday’s poll, the party is now just 1/4 with Coral to win an overall majority, having been 1/16 to do so at the start of the campaign.

“Whilst the Tories are still favourites to achieve an overall majority in Thursday’s General Election most of the bets we are taking today are being placed on a Hung Parliament which has forced us to cut the odds on that outcome”, revealed John Hill, Coral spokesman.

“It is incredible to think that when the Election was launched just a few weeks ago our odds suggested it was effectively a no-contest between Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn, yet now with just days to go this has turned into a brilliant betting event with bets being placed on almost every conceivable outcome”, added Hill.

“We now expect betting turnover on the Election to get close to the levels of the 2015 poll despite it only being called just a few weeks ago”, concluded Hill.
