Leading bookmaker Coral make Garry Monk as short as 1-4 to get the vacant Middlesbrough job after the former Leeds boss was subject to a flurry of bets this morning. It has been reported that Boro have interviewed Monk and Nigel Pearson, who is 5-2 with the firm to fill the position, and will decide between the two men this week.

“Over 70% of the bets we have taken in this market have been for Garry Monk who was subject to a huge gamble this morning forcing us to slash his odds to the point where he is now the long odds-on favourite to get the job in Teeside,” said Coral’s John Hill.

**Next Middlesbrough manager
1-4 Garry Monk, 5-2 Nigel Pearson. Others on request.
