Watch our best goals from the Italian
40-year-old Italian legend Francesco Totti brought an end to his 25-year career at Serie A giants Roma at the weekend, pulling off his boots for the 785th time. In an emotional final interview, Totti told reporters, following an appearance as a substitute in Roma’s hard-fought 3-2 win over Genoa, that it’s unlikely he’ll play elsewhere.
Having made his club debut at just 16, the attacker scored an astounding 307 competitive goals for his only employer. A one-time winner of the Serie A title, back in the 2000/01 season, he was also a regular in the blue of Italy, representing Azzurri at every level from U15 to the senior team, and was part of the 2006 World Cup winning squad.
Totti told fans he’s unsure what the future holds, but it’s expected he will take up a director roll at Stadio Olimpico. We look back at some of our favourite Francesco Totti goals…..
