We’re in early at Haydock

Seven races go on the turf of Haydock in the highlight of Wednesday’s schedule, with the early going described as good to soft. That’s where the focus of our attention lies, but there’s plenty for Coral’s racing punters to have their say on.

As well as Haydock, there’s competitive cards at Yarmouth, Worcester, Hamilton and Kempton. Click here to back your best runners of the day, or to build multiples. Winners at the click of a button. Still undecided? Below is our NAP and race-by-race selections.

Valley Of Fire bets are among Coral experts' Yarmouth tips for September 15th alongside Silent Assassin odds.

Ottonian to maintain perfect record

The action gets started at 2.00pm, and we waste no time jumping in with our best, Ottonian rated as NAP of the day in the opener. The Charlie Appleby representative arrives with a perfect one from one record, scoring on debut at Thirsk last month, despite problems on route.

The well-bred three-year-old gelding showed signs of inexperience early in the race, and there was a loose horse to contend with, but once into the contest there really was no stopping him. The selection ended beating main rival Kilowatt by 1 ½ lengths, but the most eye-catching aspect was the desire shown to get that result.

William Buick

Buick booking adds confidence

He looked to have a real fight for the post on his hands, but answered the call of pilot Martin Lane, and stayed on at the business end of the contest to grind out the win. There was little doubt he enjoyed getting home in front. Ottonian looks destined for bigger and better things, and there was enough about his bow to suggest he’s going places. We’re happy to stick with him on Wednesday.

The horse is worth keeping close, but what sealed the deal for us was the booking of William Buick, who arrives in red-hot form. Renowned for his ability to get the best out of favourites, followers of the stats will remind us that Buick has a 31 per cent win record in the last fortnight. Coral traders seem to be picking up on the same clues, and have our NAP as 6/4 favourite at the time of writing.
