NAP to start the weekend in style

We go into what promises to be an enjoyable weekend of sport with an eight-race card scheduled at Doncaster on a busy Friday. Coral are betting on all the UK and Irish action, as well as a selection of international meetings. Click here to pick your best, or build big price multiples.

We focus on matters at the South Yorkshire track, with a competitive fillies novice stakes bringing the curtain up at 2.00pm. Jane Rose is marked down as the winner of that, and she’ll hopefully get us off on the right foot, but in terms of our best, we’re sitting on the sidelines until the 4.00pm.

Pick will live up to her breeding

A maiden fillies’ stakes, disputed over the one mile two furlongs trip, there’s a 13 runner-field in attendance, and Glittering Jewel looks the pick of them. The well-bred three-year-old has been seen mixing it in better company than she faces here, and that should give her the edge over the best of these.

Winless in three previous goes, she got a look around Newmarket on debut back in April, finishing fourth of a dozen on good ground over a mile. There were signs of inexperience there, and she was caught out for pace a bit at the business end of the race, but seemed to learn plenty from the day.

We’re on the form runner of the field

The selection then found only one too good at Ascot next time – beaten over a furlong shorter than she’s set for on Friday – and there was less than two lengths between her and race winner Mori, who went off a short-priced favourite that day. Attempting to make all, she led for a large part of the race before being pegged back at the finish.

Glittering Jewel had a go in group three company last time at Chantilly, and came up short, as expected, but would’ve come on for the experience. We’re having the runner with the best form of the race on paper, and she goes for a Charlie Appleby yard in good nick at the minute.
