5/1 Tuesday football double

| 20.06.2017

Portugal taken to spring an upset

We’re now in the thick of the U21 European Championships held in Poland, and alongside the Confederations Cup, it’s keeping football punters sane over the summer, avoiding the madness of the transfer window.

Portugal and Spain clash in game of the day on Tuesday, and we give our opinions on the outcome of that match, as well as where the smart money goes in Serbia vs Macedonia. Fancy following us in on a Tuesday double? Every £10 on our pair pays £66.40. Click here to bet now.

Serbia to do as expected

The round gets started as Serbia and Macedonia lock horns from 5.00pm, and our football guys have the former as hot-favourites to grab the desired result, with 8/15 doing the rounds at the time of asking. We’re happy to side with them on that one, as it looks a shrewd call.

This will be the first meeting of these nations at this level, so there’s nothing to take from the head-to-head stats, but what does add confidence is recent results. Both went down in their opening group matches, Serbia losing to Portugal and Macedonia to Spain, but with the Spanish running riot in a 5-0 win, we expect Macedonian confidence to be rock-bottom. It’s unlikely either side will trouble the top-two, but Serbia can make a nuisance of themselves, and we back them for the win.

Portugal v Sweden

Portugal worth a play at the price

Portugal and Spain are locked on three points, and the winner of this match will, more than likely, finish as the winner of the pool. Both won their first games, and it was impossible to find fault in either side. What is worth noting however is that Portugal U21s beat Spain U21s 4-1 back in 2008, and although that counts for little here, it proves we shouldn’t be so quick to write them off.

Our odds compilers appear to have done just that, offering a Portuguese win at a chunky 10/3 and that, for us, is too good to ignore. There’s plenty of talent on show here, both from established players and stars of the future, and it goes as a real 50/50 on paper. With that in mind, we can’t look past the bigger price, and an interest on Portugal to spring an upset is worthwhile.
